Of intentions and sick children

I had the best intentions of posting about a recipe today. I had edited the photo. I had been composing the text in my head. I had my act together.

And then I was broadsided by a sick child.

Seriously, I quit. We were having a stretch of increasingly healthy times in our house. But then a mom at Little Man's school decided that the flu wasn't enough to keep her home. Her daughter was also hacking and coughing. And now Little Man is sick. I'm not a germ-a-phobe, but I'm also not pleased with the mom's lack of judgment.

And so, with a small boy snuggling on my lap, I've lost the will to write a long post.

I leave you instead with a photo of a kürbisbrezel (pumpkin seed pretzel). Have I mentioned how fabulous the pretzels are here?

I can totally relate to your post. I am also at home with a sick little guy. I have played trains so much in the past 2 days, I am dreaming of them!

Hope he gets better soon!

It certainly looks like a very good pretzel - hope your little one recovers quickly.

I hope your little guy feels better soon. Kids and germs, germs and kids. It can be hard to tell when kids are sick and contagious, or just sick and sniffly... but yea, some parents push it. A lot of my kids' classmates traveled over the winter break, some brought back travel-cooties, of course. I'm thinking we should be getting our share next week. Fortunately, they are more resistant as they get older.

Sick kids = no fun for anyone.
Bretzeln = awesome

(We lived about 2 blocks from a huge pretzel bakery warehouse, and the morning smell was incredible!)

Get well soon Little Man!! I'm with you all the way on people who send their children to school when they're REALLY ill. Not realising that school isn't a babysitting service.

The pumpkin seed pretzel looks good.

Hope your son feels better soon. And now I want a pumpkin-seed pretzel, and two minutes ago I didn't even know such a thing existed!

I kept my kid out all week because I didn't want to get the other kids sick. Missing a week of preschool isn't going to hurt anyone, well, except maybe me and my sanity!

Sick here, too. Similar situation, and I'm still pretty steamed. The pretzel looks great! Hope you all get back to 100% soon!

Mmmm, the photo intrigues me.

We just got done being sick and if some silly-sick-flu mom ruins it for me I will be ticked. Hope you all get better soon!

I'm with you on this one. Why do people feel the desperate need to go out and spread their germs. STAY HOME if you are sick. Then less people will be sick.

I.want.that.pretzel. Do you have a recipe for that? Looks wonderful.

Hope little guy gets better soon. I hate it when parents leave in sick kids at daycare and then everyone else gets sick too...

Sorry about Little Man, hope he is feeling better! I hate it when Mom's send their sick kids to school!

Forgot to mention how much I like your new blog home.

And, I am so with you on taking issue with moms who exhibit poor judgment.

Hope Little Man has recovered.

Thank you all.

First, no, I don't have a pretzel recipe...but am trying to find a good one.

Second...Little Man is indeed sick...and has been full-on sick for a week now. He started out with just a nasty virus...but has now been diagnosed with his very first ear infection. Yes, ear infections are plaguing our little home again. The irony is lost on me :)

Finally - thanks Latigo Liz! I'll be over to pick it up...I could sure use some right now :)
