Nine years ago, I almost got married on this weekend.
Almost.
But when H.E. realized that we were looking at the first Saturday in December for our wedding, he said, 'We can't get married on that weekend. It's Army-Navy day. How about the following weekend?'
I really don't care for football, so H.E.'s request made me a bit hot-under-the-collar at first. Being the headstrong person I am, I planned on standing my ground, demanding that our wedding was more important that a stupid football game. But with a fiancé that is a Naval Academy graduate and my future brother-in-law (his punk little brother) that is a West Point graduate, I knew I didn't stand a chance. To them it's more than a game. To them it's about tradition, duty and honor. As a rancher's daughter, I could understand that. Sometimes you do something because that is what you do, no questions asked.
And so, all those years ago, we were married the second weekend in December. Happy almost Anniversary, dear.

Happy Almost Anniversary to you! We tried to work around the spring break for 2 different universities... and ended up the weekend before finals. That's what I get for planning a year ahead! At least your hubby knew which weekend was off limits! :)
Happy almost anniversary!
LOL! Happy Almost Anniversary! Navy has been doing better lately.
And what do you think the answer would have been if you asked Mama Lizard her opinion?
I know her answer. "Beat Army!"
Just as well you did or every anniversary for the rest of your life would have been drowned out by the big match!
Happy Anniversary next week.
LOL ... though as both DH and I are Academy grads, I know exactly where he was coming from.
Happy Almost Anniversary ... enjoy your celebration next week of the actual day :)
Go Navy! Beat Army!
